Vein Care

proven and technologically advanced methods, excellent results

Our Goal

Our goal is the total restoration of clear, healthy skin on your legs.  Venous disease can manifest in many different ways from simple fatigue to extreme ulcerations and many points in between.

How we address these issues completely depends on the extent of the insufficiency and the exact location of the failing venous valves.  In almost every case, we will not know the extent until we scan your legs, a duplex doppler ultrasound, to see where and what is failing.  With this information, Dr. McQuaid can pick and choose from his arsenal of tools to hand-craft a treatment plan especially for you and your legs.

Dr. McQuaid may choose from the following procedures:

1.) Cooltouch CTEV®

2.) The VNUS Closure Procedure (Radiofrequency Ablation)

  • Radiofrequency Ablation, or “RFA,” is a minimally invasive option performed in our office on an outpatient basis. Using ultrasound, Dr. McQuaid will position the Closure Catheter into the diseased vein, through a small opening in the skin. Your leg will then be anesthetized with a local anesthetic agent. The tiny catheter delivers radiofrequency (RF) energy to the vein wall. As the RF energy is delivered...  ...MORE INFORMATION

3.) Phlebectomy

  • Ambulatory phlebectomy is a safe and effective outpatient procedure used to treat varicose veins. Using very small incisions, which will close without suturing, Dr. McQuaid will pull the veins out using a surgical hook. This procedure is done utilizing a local anesthetic. After the procedure is completed, a dressing will be applied to the incisions before fitting your leg with a compression stocking. This dressing will stay in place for 3-5 days. ...MORE INFORMATION

4.) Sclerotherapy

  • Sclerotherapy is a popular method for eliminating smaller varicose veins and superficial “spider veins.” During this outpatient procedure, Dr. McQuaid injects a solution called “sclerosant” into individual veins, causing them to collapse. The number of sessions needed to clear or improve the condition differs from patient to patient, depending on the extent of varicose and spider veins present. One to six sessions may be needed, although three to four are needed on average. Individual veins require on to three sessions. ...MORE INFORMATION
